Felix Klein (1849-1925)

Scientific centers or associations prefer to name themselves after famous scientists, proclaiming their research program in that way. Joseph von Fraunhofer and Max Planck are especially convincing examples. Felix Klein will be a perfect personification of the program that will be realized in Kaiserslautern at the new Felix Klein Center for Mathematics. He was an excellent mathematician, innovative as a teacher and in creating the »Göttinger Mathematik«, he was an outstanding organizer of science.
