Water Bodies in the Anthropocene – How Chemicals Affect Our Ecosystems
Human activity has both direct and indirect effects on our environment. Water bodies are no exception. The pollution of our waters with chemicals is one example of human influence. Measurement methods for detecting and quantifying their concentration have become increasingly sensitive in recent years. But what do these concentrations mean for organisms living in and around these ecosystems? We will address this question in this lecture.
Speaker: Prof. Dr. Mirco Bundschuh (RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, iES Landau – Institute for Environmental Sciences).
Mirco Bundschuh is managing director of iES Landau, Institute for Environmental Sciences, and professor of aquatic functional ecotoxicology at the Rhineland-Palatinate Technical University in Landau. He previously conducted research at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala. His research focuses on the effects of chemical pollution on individuals, populations, communities, and ecosystems.
