Who Is Advancing to the Final?

The Mathematics Olympiad is a four-stage competition for exceptionally gifted students: after the school, regional, and state rounds in Rhineland-Palatinate, the top participants were honored as finalists at a ceremony at the Fraunhofer ITWM in Kaiserslautern. Intensive preparation in the Math Camp supported them along the way – now the best will compete in the federal final in Hamburg.

Math Talent School Recap: Becoming a Mathematician – Yes or No?

From June 23 to 27, 2024, 23 female students from MINT-EC schools had the opportunity to participate in the MINT-EC Girls Camp. There, they learned what applied mathematics means and worked on practical projects in workshops. Among other things, they explored the topology of water supply systems and the optimal location planning for rescue stations.

Dynamic Systems: Classic and new Ideas

Dynamic systems often exhibit complex behavior. In his lecture, Prof. Dr. Oliver Junge from the Technical University of Munich presents mathematical concepts from geometry, topology, and functional analysis for characterizing this behavior. Models from chemistry and oceanography are examined, with numerical methods also being used.
