As early as 2023, Leonhard Mühlberger was introduced to applied mathematics and the Kaiserslautern campus through the Math Talent School. Three years later, he is now beginning his mathematics studies and participating in the Autumn School as a new scholarship recipient of the Felix Klein Academy. We spoke with him about his experiences and his journey.

At the Math Talent School 2026, 18 female students explored fascinating topics in probability, data analysis, and optimization. At the same time, they gained valuable insights into studying mathematics, mathematical research, and career opportunities in the field.

The Mathematics Olympiad is a four-stage competition for exceptionally gifted students: after the school, regional, and state rounds in Rhineland-Palatinate, the top participants were honored as finalists at a ceremony at the Fraunhofer ITWM in Kaiserslautern. Intensive preparation in the Math Camp supported them along the way – now the best will compete in the federal final in Hamburg.

Dynamic systems often exhibit complex behavior. In his lecture, Prof. Dr. Oliver Junge from the Technical University of Munich presents mathematical concepts from geometry, topology, and functional analysis for characterizing this behavior. Models from chemistry and oceanography are examined, with numerical methods also being used.
